Greetings!

Scalability is often questioned and pondered upon when it comes to choosing LAMP stack for development. Now hear from the expert, Jakob Heuser, Giaionline.com, at our next meetup.

TOPIC: Horizontal LAMP Stacks
The day the site got busy, everything went down in smoldering ruins. Horizontal scaling can help ease this when on a budget, and will serve you well into your site's growth cycle. Gaia Online has grown from 2 servers in 2003 to almost 350 at present day. Anecdotal stories will help show how sites grow, scale, and turn into large deployments.

SPEAKER BIO: A problem solver at heart, Jakob has been programming as a means to satisfy his knowledge thirst for about 10 years. When not coding PHP, JavaScript, or authoring XHTML and CSS, he can be found musing about community, software development, and user engagement on his personal site www.felocity.org.

The downside of this meeting was the start time. Several people were early or on-time, but had to wait 30 minutes for the late comers. This is just inconsiderate. Everyone's time is valuable, please respect it.
